Meet Karen, one of our dedicated Physical Therapy Technicians at Schultz Physical Therapy in Bogalusa. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Karen made Louisiana home after marrying her husband, who is from Pine. After retiring from a long and impactful healthcare career, she felt led to stay active, connect with people, and continue encouraging others—making Schultz Physical Therapy a natural next chapter.
Karen’s professional journey spans more than 30 years in the medical field. She attended high school in Scottsdale, Arizona, studied at Loma Linda University in California, and later completed EMT and Paramedic training at Hammond Area Vocational School in the mid-1980s. She spent three decades with Examination Management Services in Baton Rouge, where she ultimately led Clinical Studies during the final 10 years of her career, working extensively with patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Her experience has shaped her compassionate approach to care and her genuine interest in each patient’s story.
Outside of work, Karen cherishes time with her family. She has a daughter who is a nurse, a son who is a chef, and four grandchildren—all living in the Lafayette area. She enjoys staying active through exercise and has a special love for baking. Her oatmeal cookie recipe has gained the name “Jesus Cookie” from those who have tasted it, with many saying that if Jesus had a favorite cookie, this would be it. Karen finds joy in blessing others through simple acts of kindness—often beginning with something homemade.
Karen is motivated first by her faith and second by her family. She believes in speaking life, offering encouragement, and recognizing that every person she meets has a story worth hearing. At Schultz Physical Therapy, she strives to be a positive influence—bringing warmth, compassion, and joy to both patients and her co-workers each day.
